Classwork: Today we finished watching a documentary about the Korean War and wrote a thesis about why it is called the Forgotten War. We started talking about the idea of conformity and how social norms were portrayed in the 1950s. We watched a PSA epsidoe titled 'A date with your Family' and discussed gender and social roles of the 50s. We also watched an episode of I Love Lucy. I also reviewed the expectations and deadlines of the Junior Project.
Homework: Watch one of the following 50s TV shows from below or access them though other streaming services. You do not have to watch an entire episode if there is a time constraint, but at least 10-15 minutes. Be prepared to discuss how it compares to I Love Lucy, the ideas of conformity and TV in today's society.
Classwork: We took notes on the Korean War. We started watching a documentary on the Korean War to hear first hand the impact of the war and why it was deemed, "The Forgotten War". After watching the documentary you will be asked to write a thesis statement that answers the following question: Why is the Korean War called the Forgotten War?

Classwork: Today we discussed the new trends and characteristics of the 1950s based on our block party. We took notes and discussed the Red Scare of the 50s and the impact of McCarthyism in the United States.

Classwork: Today we had a 50's Block Party to understand how society functioned during the 1950s. If you were absent please read Chapter 41 in the textbook.
Homework: Cold War Timeline due tomorrow
Classwork: Today was our culminating Socratic seminar - answering the essential question: Was the US justified in dropping the atomic bomb to end WWII.
