Classwork: Today we spent the class period in the library. This was our last scheduled library day - make sure all print sources are completed.

Classwork: Today we continued to discuss conformity. We took notes on popular culture from the 1950s and watched an episode of I Love Lucy. We also finished the Korean War documentary and discussed this war's impact on the US.
Homework: Watch one of the following 50s TV shows from below or access them though other streaming services. You do not have to watch an entire episode if there is a time constraint, but at least 10-15 minutes. Be prepared to discuss how it compares to I Love Lucy, the ideas of conformity and TV in today's society. (Please complete by Monday 3/12)
Classwork: Today we discussed gender roles and what it means to conform to societies ideals. We watched a PSA from the 1950s called A Date with your Family.

Classwork: Today we took notes on the causes of the Korean War and watched a documentary about why this war is often called the Forgotten War (viewing guide). We also discussed how this war compared to previous wars the US has been involved in.
Homework: Please bring headphones to class tomorrow. We will be watching videos in class, therefore, if you prefer to use your own device please bring your personal laptop. If not, I will have laptops in class for you to use.
Classwork: Today we watched a video about the process for picking classes for next year. Any remaining class time was used as a work period for the Junior Project.

Classwork: Today we discussed the new trends and characteristics of the 1950s based on our block party. We took notes and discussed the Red Scare of the 50s and the impact of McCarthyism in the United States.

Classwork: Today we participated in a 50s Block party to learn about the peace, prosperity and progress for a portion of Americans during this decade. If you were absent please read and take notes on Ch. 41 in the textbook.
Classwork: Today we picked our topics for the Junior Project and reviewed the expectations. We discussed what we already know about the Cold War. The remaining class time was used to work on the Origins of the Cold War Timeline assignment.

Classwork: Today we read and analyzed 3 viewpoints from the attack on Pearl Harbor. We watched a clip from the film Pearl Harbor and compared the Hollywood version to the primary source accounts. We also listened to FDR's speech which declared war on Japan and the impact entering WWII had on the United States.
Classwork: Today we took the New Deal Quiz. Any remaining class time was used to work on the WWII Origins and Significant event assignment.
